Geoff Berner, Vancouver’s own Whiskey Rabbi, makes one of his rare hometown performances at the Festival. After numerous international tours, festival appearances in Canada and Europe, airplay on national radio in 5 countries, and opening slots on tour with artists such as Billy Bragg, Kaizers Orchestra, Corb Lund, Po’ Girl and the Be Good Tanyas (who covered his song “Light Enough to Travel”), he’s garnered critical acclaim and a cult following for his sharp songwriting and cabaret performance style. An evening spent with Geoff Berner’s music is, in the words of the good Dr. Hunter S. Thompson, “a wild combination of menace, madness, and genius… fragmented coherence that wreaks havoc on the mind of any listener.” – Vue Weekly, Edmonton
Maria in the Shower is Vancouver’s legendary folk cabaret band – dedicated to carrying the cheap and weird across the threshold of your mind and body.

The Tailor is a textural anomaly, an enigmatic presence, a scratched record proclaiming sweet nothings, a midnight rendez-vous, holy license, banjo-slinging papa with a mama on the wind. An open challenge to the brave-hearted not to be seduced by East Van’s most sensual one-man show.
Renée sings, stomps, and plays button accordion with the deep passion of a she-warrior. Her style draws from folk dance music, zydeco, and old-school rock n’ roll. A repair woman and teacher as well as performer, she has installed her own unique accordion bass system so that she can spice up old melodies with rocking bass lines, and compose new music with punk accordion flair. She tours the world playing solo, duo, and with the Cajun Americana trio Whiskey & Women. She’s also the producer of the internationally acclaimed Accordion Babes Album & Pin-up Calendar.
